Good rains lash Kerala, more showers in offing

The state of Kerala has been recording a few good spells of rain for the past few days. In fact, despite the end of the four-month long Southwest Monsoon season, good rains have been lashing the state resulting in pleasant weather conditions over the region.

In fact, the last 24 hours were all the rainier for the state and moderate to heavy showers were seen over many parts of God’s Own Country. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Punalur recorded a whopping 45 mm of rain, followed by Thiruvananthapuram at 38 mm.

These rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation which is persisting over East Central Arabian Sea and adjoining Kerala Coast in the mid tropospheric levels. Also, an upper air trough is extending from Bangladesh to Lakshadweep region across Coastal Karnataka. Thus, good rains have been lashing the region.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains will take a backseat over northern parts of Kerala. However, southern parts of the state will continue to witness light to moderate rains for at least the next 24 to 48 hours. With this, temperatures will also be on the lower side and weather will remain pleasant.
