Good rains lash Tamil Nadu, to continue for 24 hoursThe state of Tamil Nadu had been witnessing almost dry and comfortable weather conditions for quite some time now. So much so that only light rains were being witnessed over the state and good showers. However, the last 24 hours were quite rainy for the region with three-digit rains lashing some parts of the city of Chennai.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Minambakkam in Chennai witnessed 101 mm of rainfall followed by 64 mm of rainfall at the Nungambakkam observatory. Other parts of Chennai to have witnessed good rains include Kariakal 34 mm, Atiramapattinam 32 mm, Parangipettai 30 mm, Tuticorin 17 mm, K Paramathy 14 mm and Tondi 10 mm.

These rainfall activities can be attributed to the low pressure which is persisting over Southeast Sri Lanka coast. Not only this, heavy showers had occurred over the region due to the development of convective clouds over the region.

Now, during the next 24 hours, rainfall intensity will witness a massive reduction over the region. However, light to moderate rains may continue over southern parts of Tamil Nadu. After 24 hours, almost dry weather conditions will prevail over the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
