Good rains likely over Kolkata, Bardhaman, Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Digha

The state of West Bengal has been witnessing almost dry weather conditions during the last few days. However, there have been isolated pockets which may have recorded very light spells of rainfall.

Now, weather gods are all set to give the residents of West Bengal some good news in the form of good rains.

The upcoming weather conditions will be attributed to multiple weather features persisting in proximity of West Bengal. One of them is a cyclonic circulation which currently persists over Northeast India and is expected to move in a West Northwest direction towards Bay of Bengal. Along with this, another cyclonic circulation is seen over West Central Bay of Bengal and a trough is also extending from this system in proximity of West Bengal region.

Thus, good rainfall activity is expected over the entire state of West Bengal. However, rains will be much more over sub Himalayan West Bengal as compared to Gangetic West Bengal.

While Gangetic West Bengal will witness light to moderate showers, Sub Himalayan West Bengal will observe moderate showers with isolated heavy rainfall activity.

So, during the next 24 hours, cities including Kolkata, Bardhaman, Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, Digha, Malda, Durgapur, and Asansol will witness rainfall of varied intensity. These monsoon showers over the state of West Bengal are expected to persist for at least two to three days.

Due to this, temperatures over these areas will also witness a drop resulting in pleasant weather conditions.
