October 15, 2016 12:28 PM |

Kerala Rains The Peninsular India has been receiving good showers for the past few days. In fact, it is one of the few parts of the country to receive good rains at this point of time.

The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep Islands and Kerala region is persisting for the last few days. Due to this many areas of Lakshadweep and Kerala have received good rainfall. Isolated rainfall activities have occurred over Tamil Nadu as well.

Gradually, this cyclonic circulation will move towards south, leading to decrease in rainfall activity over Kerala. During the next 24 hours, we expect moderate to heavy rains over Lakshadweep Islands and Kerala.

Tamil Nadu will receive isolated rainfall activities, particularly over southern parts and Nilgiri Hills. However, weather in Chennai will remain dry and sultry.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Amini Devi observed 50.7 mm of rainfall, followed by Kodaikanal 3.4 mm and Coonoor 0.2 mm.

During the Northeast Monsoon season, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as well as interiors of Karnataka receive good rainfall. As of now, Northeast Monsoon has not been significantly seen or felt over these areas.

No significant rainfall activities have been observed in the Southern Peninsula. According to Skymet Weather, rainfall will remain below normal in October over these areas. However, intensity of rainfall may pick up pace during the last week of October.
