Mumbaikars are all set to celebrate the 10 days long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi commencing on Monday. This festival starts with placing an idol of Lord Ganesha inside their home or workplace and ends up by Ganesh Visarjan meaning immersion of the idol in the Sea.

The Ganesh Utsav is said to fall on the fourth day of the second fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada as per the Hindu calendar. This is usually in the month of August to September as per the Gregorian calendar ending on the fourteenth day of the fortnight (Ananta Chaturdashi).

The festival is celebrated all over India particularly in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Like every year, this year too Mumbai is all decked up to rejoice the festival by having more than 6,300 sarvajanik Ganesh pandals, more than 1.2 lakh home Ganesh idols and about 9,000 Gauri idols.

From large list of celebrities to ordinary 9 to 5 office goers, people from all walks of life are on their toes to give a final finishing to their Vinayaka Chaturthi preparations. Additionally, in the honor of Lord Ganesha, it seems Mumbai’s weather is also joining hands to make the celebrations go on without obstacles.

This is what Lord Ganesha is well known for: Vighna haarak meaning removing all obstacles. As per the forecasters, Mumbai is all freed from heavy downpours for most of the month now. However, only light drizzle is likely. Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the city.

Moreover, temperatures are also allowing people to relish their celebrations as chances of mercury scaling up is not foreseen as of now. Temperatures are expected to remain normal giving the celebrations a picture perfect look.
