Gujarat to witness significant drop in minimum temperature

February 6, 2017 12:57 PM |

Winters in Gujarat

The ongoing Western Disturbance which was affecting Western Himalayas has moved away eastwards. It's induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Rajasthan has also become insignificant.

In wake of this, winds from north direction have started blowing and reaching up to Gujarat, thus affecting the weather over the state. These winds are cold and dry in nature, thus leading to drop in night temperatures in many parts. This fall in minimum temperature is likely to be of  2 to 5 degrees.

Before this, it seemed like the winter chill had abated in many parts of North India. A significant rise in minimums was observed over many places including Gujarat. Temperatures were found settling above normal by 5-6 degrees.

The reason can be credited to the warm and humid southerly winds prevailing over the region that were coming from Arabian Sea. Due to this, several parts of Gujarat and adjoining Rajasthan were witnessing warm afternoons and discomforting nights.

However, now the wind pattern is likely to change and bring a respite from the warm days for few days. Minimum temperatures that are slated to drop are likely to bring a relief from the weather during morning and evening time.
