Heat pocket shifts from east to west, impacting Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

May 12, 2023 5:50 PM |

The hottest pocket earlier was in the east wherein parts of Jharkhand and West Bengal were observing massively high maximums. However, now, the heat pocket has shifted towards the west and even a few central parts including Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Temperatures have been recorded around 44 degrees yesterday over the trio states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan including the cities of Barmer, Surendranagar, Ratlam, Jaisalmer, Keshod, Amreli etc. Temperatures here are 3 to 4 degrees above normal but still short of heatwave conditions as heat wave maximums have to be at 45 degrees or above or 5 degrees above the normal levels.

We can expect similar temperatures to continue over the region for the next few days as no weather activity is expected. Heat wave conditions may be seen in isolated pockets as well.
