The state of Maharashtra has been reeling under intense heat for a long time now. Weather has remained dry and clear, with weather conditions seeing no change whatsoever. In fact, most parts of Maharashtra are not only seeing maximums above the 40-degree mark but heatwave like conditions have also been prevailing over both these states.

Yesterday, Chandrapur recorded its maximum at 42.8°C, becoming the hottest city in Maharashtra. Along with this, several other cities also saw its maximums settling at sky high levels. Wardha and Akola both saw the maximum at 42.5°C, each, Parbhani 42.2°C, Nanded and Bramhapuri 42°C, Nagpur 41.6°C, Malegaon 41.6°C, Yeotmal 41.5°C, Amravati 41.6°C.

These soaring mercury levels can be attributed to the absence of any rain bearing weather system in proximity of the region. The present trough across Marathwada along with the cyclonic circulation over Telangana and adjoining areas have restricted the flow of comparatively cooler winds. Thus, due to hot winds, clear sky conditions and bright sunshine; temperatures continue to be on the higher side over the entire state of Maharashtra.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these weather conditions will continue to persist over Maharashtra and no relief is in sight for these areas.
