The heatwave that had been persisting over Central and Peninsular India has now shifted to the parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh recorded 43.3°C on Tuesday, which was six degrees above normal, followed by Jamshedpur in Jharkhand at 43°C, five degrees above normal.
According to Skymet Weather, day temperatures have been on a rise in absence of any weather activity during the last few days. No relief is likely during next 24 to 48 hours.
Thereafter, we can expect change in weather conditions on account of eastward movement of Western Disturbance and its induced cyclonic circulation. Strong winds can be witnessed over the region in wake of passage of these systems.
Relief over Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
Day temperatures have witnessed a significant drop in span of 24 hours over Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, and Vidarbha and Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
However, isolated pockets are still under the ambit of heatwave like conditions.
Akola which was 44°C on April 4, recorded day maximum three degrees below at 41.1°C on April 5. Anantapur was 42°C, in comparison to 44°C on April 4.
Temperatures in most parts of the region are now settling in high 30s and some are below normal as well.
The much-needed relief can be attributed to light rain and thunderstorm activities. A north-south trough can be seen from Madhya Maharastra up to Kerala across Interior Karnataka.
However, this relief is likely to last only for next 48 hours as this trough is likely to become insignificant. With this, mercury will start soaring once again over the region.
