Heavy downpour continues over all of Maharashtra

Maharashtra has been blessed with good rains again as the Monsoon has gone active over various regions of the state.

The current situation of Vidarbha is such that the region has been receiving moderate to heavy rains since last couple of days. Some parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal areas of the state have also received light rainfall in last 24 hours.

The latest update is that the rain intensity is likely to increase in most parts of South Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal areas of the state. But Vidarbha will continue to receive light to moderate rain.

The weather system that is causing so much of rains over the region is a low-pressure system persisting over Andhra Pradesh coast and neighboring areas. And an associated cyclonic circulation is extending up to mid-tropospheric level. The system is tilting southwestwards with height.

In the last 24 hours, many parts of Maharashtra have received light to moderate rain. Places that have received good rains are: Amravati 25 mm, Gondia 34 mm, Solapur 24 mm, Vengurla 52 mm, Wardha 19 mm and Yeotmal 57 mm.

Now the heavy rainy spells are expected over North Konkan & Goa which is likely to increase by September 16. But light rainfall is expected to persist for next 48 hours. During September 16-18 strong winds are expected with mainly overcast sky.
