Madhya Pradesh Rains

Heavy rains don’t seem to be bidding farewell to Madhya Pradesh any time soon. During the last 24 hours as well, cities like Guna, Bhopal and Indore received moderate to heavy rains.

While a whopping 109 mm rains were observed in Ujjain, Bhopal recorded 46 mm, Ratlam 73 mm, Indore 31 mm, Dhar 24 mm, Guna 49 mm and Chittorgarh received 32 mm rains.

At present, the rains are confided over northern and western districts of Madhya Pradesh. We expect similar rain activities to continue today as well. By tomorrow the rain belt will shift over northern districts like Guna, Shivpuri, Shajapur, Datiya, Gwalior, Morena and Tikamgarh. At the same time, rains will reduce from Khandwa, Khargone, Betul, Hoshangabad, Seoni and Mandla.

For the next 48 hours, i.e. on September 15 and 16, the rains will pour over the northern districts as a Low Pressure Area is still persisting over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. Also, a wind shear zone is extending from Gujarat to Bangladesh across Madhya Pradesh.

From September 17 onward, the rain activities will once again shift over eastern parts of the state. However, as a relief, during that time, the rain activities will not be very heavy. Only light to moderate rains are likely. One or two heavy spells cannot be ruled out.

The overall intensity of rains is expected to reduce over Madhya Pradesh after September 15. So, we can say the flooding rains will continue for another two to three days. Thereafter, a relief is expected to set in.

As the Monsoon has yet not started withdrawing from West Rajasthan, therefore, the weather will not go completely dry over Madhya Pradesh. Light rains with one or two moderate spells will continue post-September 17 as well.
