Rains occurred over Chhattisgarh on the second consecutive day as well. However, in contrast with the last rains that occurred on Saturday, the intensity of these rains remained light.

These rains were due to the trough extending from North Chhattisgarh to Comorin region across Telangana and Karnataka. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is over Telangana while another one is seen over Jharkhand and adjoining areas.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Jagdalpur recorded 11.6 mm of rains, Ambikapur 8.8 mm, Raipur 6.4 mm, Pendra 1.2 mm and Bilaspur recorded 0.7 mm of light spells.

As per Skymet Weather, now the rainfall activity over the area is likely to reduce further and some isolated rains and thundershower are what is expected to show up now for the next 24 hours. The weather is anticipated to become dry thereafter.

It seems like the rain show has begun over the eastern coast of the country along with a few pockets in the central parts also recording good showers. Chhattisgarh has been one of the states where some areas have recorded good showers in the last 24 hours.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, heavy showers were recorded by the city of Jagdalpur wherein a whopping 48 mm of rains were recorded. In the similar time frame, Durg recorded 18 mm of rainfall. However, other parts of the state remained dry.

These rainfall activities can be attributed to the trough which has been extending from South Chhattisgarh to Comorin region across Telangana and Karnataka. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is over Telangana while another one is seen over Jharkhand and adjoining areas.

With this, light rains are expected to continue over some parts of Chhattisgarh during the next 24 to 48 hours as well. However, these showers will not be very intense. Cities of Dantewada, Sukma, Durg, Jagdalpur, Koriya, Ambikapur, Pendra, and Raipur will receive some rains. As far as temperatures are concerned, no major change is expected both in the day and the night temperatures.
