Here is how Goa is different than Mumbai weather wise

The West Coast of India during the Pre-Monsoon season is well known for extreme hot and humid weather conditions. On the other hand, during the Monsoon season, this region is the rainiest pocket including the regions of Goa and Mumbai.

However, if Goa and Mumbai are concerned, these areas lie in the coast, on the upside of the Ghats. While they lie at an aerial distance of 435 km, weather wise there is quite a lot of difference to be seen in these areas in both the Pre-Monsoon and the Monsoon season.

During the Pre-Monsoon season, Mumbai remains hotter than Goa. So much so that it touches 40-degrees during this period. In fact, this season, a few days ago, the maximum in Mumbai reached a whopping 41 degrees Celsius. The city also has a record of observing maximum above the 42-degree mark. Meanwhile, the maximums do not touch such highs for Goa.

In terms of humidity, both Mumbai and Goa are equally humid. Talking about the temperature range, Mumbai can go beyond 40 degrees in terms of the highest maximums but does not drop below 32 degrees during the Pre-Monsoon season. In case if minimums, the highest that is recorded is 26 degrees while the lowest minimum does not drop below 20-degrees.

However, the maximum and minimum range in Goa shrinks with the highest maximum not going beyond 37 degrees and the lowest being 33 degrees. The highest minimum here is at 28 degrees, and the lowest is at around 24 degrees Celsius.

Talking about the rains in April, Mumbai records no rains while the monthly rain for Goa stands at 4.3 mm. Rains in Goa occur in association of the trough which runs along the West Coast. The annual rainfall for Goa is also higher than Mumbai. Goa’s annual rains stand at 2918 mm and Mumbai settles with 2373 mm of rainfall.

The month of July is the rainiest for both the pockets. However, here also, Goa receives more rains than Mumbai. The July average for Mumbai stands at 840 mm, while Goa sees 907.4 mm of rainfall. During the month of June, Goa’s average stands at 892.3 mm while Mumbai records only 493.1 mm.

The average rainy days also for Goa are about 26 to 27 in July with Mumbai being a shade lesser at 23.

In a nutshell, in terms of temperatures, Mumbai is hotter than Goa while in rainy terms, Goa receives more rains than Mumbai during Monsoon.
