Kerala likely to witness pre-Monsoon rains

Kerala rain post

Dry and hot weather has been prevalent in Kerala and this was on account of the absence of any significant weather system over the region. The month of March went almost dry with only a few spells during the fag end of the month.

Came April and most districts of Kerala observed rains. On and off showers have remained prevalent in April. However, the weather soon went on to become dry again. Now, a trough is seen over Kerala coast in the lower level. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand is now over Southeast Madhya Pradesh and a trough is extending from this system up to Tamil Nadu across Karnataka.

In the wake of both these weather systems, scattered rains are expected over Kerala during the late afternoon or evening hours today. These rains are expected to continue over the region for the next 24 hours and reduce thereafter.

Skymet Weather further reiterates that along with these showers, hot and humid weather is also likely to prevail. Thus, these rainy spells will be of a short duration.

As far as the temperature profile is concerned, the maximums that are settling in lower 30’s will not witness any decreasing trend. True to their nature, the pre-Monsoon showers occurs during the late afternoon or evening hours and by that time, the maximums have already peaked up.
