Kolkata, Bankura, Diamond Harbour to continue with good Monsoon rains

West Bengal has been witnessing good rains since many days. Many parts of West Bengal received moderate to heavy rains during the last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Bankura in West Bengal witnessed 113 mm of heavy rain.

In the same span of time, Shanti Niketan recorded 38 mm of moderate intensity rain, Jalpaiguri 15.8 mm, Midnapore 15 mm, Digha 13.3 mm, Malda 12.3 mm of rain. Meanwhile, light rain of 10.7 was recorded in Kolkata, Diamond Harbour 11.8 mm, Burdwan 8.2 mm and Asansol 6.6 mm of rain.

As per Skymet Weather, a Low-Pressure area was over southeast Odisha and due to this, flow of south easterly winds increased moisture over the state. As on August 27, Gangetic West Bengal is surplus by 7 percent and Sub Himalayan West Bengal by 3 percent. During last 24 hours districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal received good rains.

Kolkata also received light Monsoon showers. It is anticipated that moderate rains with few heavy spells will continue over many parts of West Bengal for the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter scattered rains will remain over southern districts such as Diamond Harbour, Midnapore, and Kolkata also Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Places like Siliguri, Malda, Berhampur, Murshidabad and Jalpaiguri in Gangetic West Bengal will witness reduced rains.
