April 5, 2016 6:13 PM |

Rain in Central IndiaSeveral parts of Central and Peninsular India have been receiving pre-Monsoon showers in view of the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West and adjoining Bangladesh region. The trough extending from this system up to North Chhattisgarh has given scattered rainfall activities over West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Another trough or wind discontinuity extending from Vidarbha to South Tamil Nadu across Maharashtra and interiors of Karnataka was responsible for rainfall activities over Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra and parts of Kerala. We can see another feeble trough extending from North Coastal Maharashtra to Konkan and Goa. Accordingly, light rain was witnessed over the region during last 24 hours.

By Wednesday, the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West and adjoining Bangladesh region will cease to have much effect on weather in the region. Now, we can expect scattered rain and thundershowers over Southeast Madhya Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and interiors of Madhya Maharashtra. Isolated rainfall activities can also occur over Kerala. Interiors of Odisha could also receive isolated rains.

By the late evening hours of April 7, parts of South Interior Karnataka and adjoining interiors of Tamil Nadu could also receive rain at few places. By April 8 and 9, rainfall will increase over the southern tip of Peninsula India.

Pre-Monsoon showers generally take place after late afternoon hours. Thus, these showers do not bring any relief from high temperatures prevailing in Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other oppressively hot states.
