Monsoon is about to bid a farewell to the Indian subcontinent, but the western state of Gujarat is still waiting for good monsoon showers. Since the past many days, most areas are experiencing mainly dry weather conditions.
In the month of July, Gujarat received good rains and few good spells were witnessed by many regions during the third week of August also.
But since then the rain intensity has decreased significantly over the entire state and as of now, Gujarat region is deficient by 16% whereas Saurashtra & Kutch region is deficient by 25%. Reason for these decreased rains can be attributed to the absence of any significant weather system over and around Gujarat.
Although light scattered rains are going on over eastern and southern districts since the last few days, but still most parts of Kutch are still dry.
Further also, we do not expect any significant rain activity over Gujarat, but isolated light rains may occur over Southeast Gujarat. Places like Surat, Balsar & Bhavnagar, Dang, Narmada and Navsari may receive short spells of light rains. So, we can say that any significant increase in rain activities is ruled out for Gujarat until the end of monsoon season.
