'Loo' intensifies its grip over Rajasthan

April 29, 2015 5:34 PM |

Summers in JaisalmerAs we enter into thick of summers, 'loo' has swept almost all parts of Rajasthan, forcing people to brave hot weather. Heat wave conditions are also prevailing in some parts of the state .

In the absence of any weather activity, maximum temperatures are on a rising spree and are settling in early 40’s. Nights have also become uncomfortable with minimum temperatures recording in high-20s or early 30s.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, dry northwesterly winds blowing from adjoining Pakistan region is pushing up the mercury level. Also, the region’s geographical nature of the land is semi-arid that attracts high temperatures.

Let us have a look at the maximum temperatures across the state during last two days:

Table--Maximum temperatures in Rajasthan

Please note: Temperatures in °C

As per the latest forecast, we can expect a marginal dip in maximum temperatures on account of a Western Disturbance that would be affecting North India on April 30. But the change would sustain only for a day.

However, there will be no respite from the scorching heat as day temperature will still settle above 40°C. These  weather conditions are expected to prevail in the state for over a week.
