July 31, 2016 6:32 PM |

Rain in Andhra PradeshSouthwest Monsoon did not make a very good start over Peninsular India this season. Therefore, June ended up with a pan India rainfall deficiency of 11%. Nevertheless, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema received good showers and recorded surplus rains to the tune of 75% and 86%, respectively.

As of now, there is a low pressure area lying over northwest Bay of Bengal. It will move in a westerly direction or in a west-northwest direction. This weather system will bring good rains over the state.

During last 24 hours, Machilipatnam received 16.8 mm of rainfall, Nellore 14.2 mm and Vijayawada 2.8 mm.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive light to moderate rains at many places over the next 24 hours. Few places could receive heavy rains as well. Whereas, Rayalaseema will receive subdued rains.

Gradually, the intensity of rainfall will increase and moderate showers will be witnessed at several places. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive more rains.
