Lucknow shivers as minimum drops to zero degreeFor the past few days, winter chill has been wreaking havoc over the residents of the North Indian plains. So much so that several areas have been reeling under severe cold wave conditions. In fact, parts of Rajasthan are along with some areas of Punjab are also recording subzero temperatures.

Uttar Pradesh is another state where severe cold wave conditions have been wreaking havoc over the residents. The state capital, Lucknow has been observing biting cold conditions. In fact, the minimum temperature yesterday had dropped down to 1.5 degree Celsius.

Today, conditions have gotten even worse with the mercury dropping to freezing point. The minimum temperature today was recorded at zero degree Celsius which happens to be seven degrees below the normal levels.

Not only this, several other parts of Northwest India are recording temperatures at zero degree including Bhilwara in Rajasthan and Narnaul in Haryana. These weather conditions can be attributed to the presence of icy cold northeasterly winds blowing from the hills of North India bringing in severe winter over the plains.

In fact, the wintry conditions that were missing from these areas have finally made a comeback. Slight relief can be expected during the next 24 to 48 hours. However, temperatures will continue to be below the normal levels for some more time.
