Yesterday’s low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal(BoB) has intensified in to a well marked low pressure area over the same region. This is the 1st well marked ‘low’ of season 2021 over BoB and is expected to become more marked in the next 24hr. The weather system has extended its reach to cover coastal parts of West Bengal and Bangladesh. While intensifying over the next 48 hr, the system will move across West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand. Further, it will travel over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and reach up to Rajasthan over the next 5-6days.

Heavy downpour is quite likely over North Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and South Uttar Pradesh between 30thJuly and 03rdAug. Overall, the southwest monsoon will remain active over Eastern and Northern parts of the country for next 7 days. Hilly states of North India and state of Madhya Pradesh in the central region will also remain the focus of intense weather activity during this period. Subdued monsoon action is expected over southern parts of the country. Seasonal deficiency of 2% may get covered with incessant rains over these parts in the remaining days of the month.
