After a long dry spell, Ahmedabad received good rains on Monday evening. This spell of Monsoon rain washed away the sultry weather which had been prevailing for quite some time over the region.
Amdavadis had been witnessing overcast skies for the last few days. In absence of rainfall, the weather had become quite humid and uncomfortable. The city has hardly received any rainfall this month, against the monthly normal of 281.3 mm.
On July 11, Skymet Weather predicted good rains for Ahmedabad and adjoining areas.

As it started raining on Monday evening, people in Ahmedabad were seen running outdoors to get drenched and to enjoy the essence of Monsoon. Moreover, we expect more heavy showers in Gujarat for the next 2 days. All thanks to multiple weather systems lying over Central India.
The Monsoon surge has been active over India at present. However, the Bay of Bengal is more active on account of several Monsoon systems that have come up over the region. As of now, there is a low-pressure area over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and its adjoining areas. The previous weather system is also lying in the form of a cyclonic circulation over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighboring areas. Another fresh cyclonic circulation has come up over Odisha and adjoining areas of Jharkhand. All these weather systems are responsible for keeping Monsoon active over Central India including Gujarat.
Maharashtra, parts of West Madhya Pradesh, South Rajasthan and North Gujarat will bear the brunt of these Monsoon systems for about another 24 to 48 hours.
