In the wake of this, we expect good rains to continue over parts of Konkan region. In addition to this, a gradual increase in the intensity of rains can be expected over Mumbai that may receive moderate showers July 4 onwards.

Moreover, parts of Vidarbha may also receive light to moderate rains for the next 24-48 hours. However, the rain intensity would remain subdued over Marathwada and parts of Madhya Maharashtra.

At this stage, let us see the impact of this weather on the agriculture belt of Maharashtra:

Farmers are advised to continue transplanting of rice and to use insecticides against the control of crab. Proper support should be given to cucurbitaceous crops. Farmers are also advised to apply doses of NPK fertilizers to vegetable crops.

Farmers in Vidarbha region should start sowing cotton. Sowing should be done by considering local soil moisture status and rainfall received. Farmers should complete the sowing of groundnut by July 7. Before sowing, pigeon pea seeds should be treated with crop-specific Rhizobium culture and Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria.
