Monsoon rains to lash West Bengal and Odisha for next two days

September 24, 2019 3:36 PM |

Odisha and West Bengal rains

Rain in West Bengal and Sikkim from June 1 to September 23 is surplus by 9%, while the  Gangetic West Bengal is observing an excess of 29%. If we talk about Odisha, it has recorded normal rainfall till now.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, moderate to heavy rain was witnessed in Gangetic West Bengal and many parts of Odisha.

Since the last few days, the state of West Bengal is recording good rainfall activities. There is an east-west trough which is extending from the central parts of the country up to West Bengal. Along with this, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture over Odisha and West Bengal.

Due to this significant weather system, we expect moderate to heavy rainfall activities to commence over Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Odisha on September 24.

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and the interior Odisha would also see some good rains. Moderate rains are expected to continue over the state of West Bengal and Odisha until September 25.

From September 26, rainfall activities would start decreasing but only scattered light to moderate rains would continue over the states.

Thus, we can say that good rains would lash Odisha and West Bengal for another two days.
