Bihar Rains

The states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have received fairly good rains during the course of this Monsoon season.

In fact during the last few days, scattered light to moderate rain has been going over many parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

These rains can be attributed to the combined effect of the cyclonic circulation which is presently seen over South Uttar Pradesh, the easterly winds which are prevailing over Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and also the moisture-laden winds that are reaching both the states from Bay of Bengal.

During the last 24 hours, Chapra recorded 12.4 mm of rainfall, Bhagalpur 7 mm, Purnea 6 mm and Gaya 4 mm in Bihar, while in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow witnessed 46 mm of rains, Bareilly 44 mm, Shahjahanpur 29 mm and Hardoi 20 mm.

According to meteorologist at Skymet Weather, scattered rain and thunderstorms will continue over Bihar and Uttar Pradesh for another 24 hours. Morning and night hours will be comfortable, however afternoons are expected to be mainly warm and humid.

As on September 14, East Uttar Pradesh is rain deficient by 14%, while West Uttar Pradesh is deficit by 12%. The state of Bihar is rainfall deficient by 10%. Now with these rains in offing, we expect both the regions to cover up the rain deficiency to some extent.
