Monsoon to revive over East and Central Uttar Pradesh soon

Uttar Pradesh rains

Between June 12 and 18, many parts of East Uttar Pradesh, as well as parts of Central Uttar Pradesh, received torrential rain. There after the intensity of rain reduced to some extent, but light to moderate rain continued until June 25th. Since then, monsoon rain has decreased significantly over Uttar Pradesh. At present axis of monsoon trough is a running close to the foothills of Himalayas leading to dry westerly winds over Indo Gangetic Plains including Uttar Pradesh.

The weather will remain dry for another 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter eastern end of the trough will start shifting south. Monsoon will revive once again from July 1st over East and Central Uttar Pradesh. But rain activities will be heavier over foothills and adjoining districts of Uttar Pradesh in comparison to southern parts. The weather of Western Uttar Pradesh will remain almost dry hot and sultry.

With the shifting of the trough to the south, humid easterly winds will commence over Indo-Gangetic plains including Uttar Pradesh by July 8. That will be the time when the monsoon may start progressing to the rest of Uttar Pradesh as well as parts of northwest India.
