As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these rains can be attributed to the offshore trough running along the West Coast. At present, the trough is running from South Gujarat to Coastal Karnataka.

On account of an active offshore trough, rains over the Konkan division would continue with short breaks over Konkan region in Maharashtra for another three to four days. The intensity of these rains may vary from moderate with isolated heavy spells. However, the occurrence of these rains would be during late evening or early morning hours.
