More heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh; flood like situation likely

Northern and eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh have received heavy to very heavy rains during the last two days. Due to these heavy rains, parts of Madhya Pradesh have been facing flood like situation as well.

Although rain intensity was less over the southern districts but scattered light to moderate rains were still witnessed. On and off rain also occurred over Chhattisgarh.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Gondia recorded 53 mm of rain, followed by Durg 52 mm, Sheopur 41 mm, Satna 25 mm and Indore 11 mm.

Now, the axis of Monsoon trough is running via southern parts of Uttar Pradesh with an embedded cyclonic circulation over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Due to these weather systems, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over northern and eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh for the next 48 hours.

Many districts of north and central Chhattisgarh will also get good rains. Meanwhile, rain intensity will be less over the southern districts.

Few spells of rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy spell are likely over Baloda Bazar, Balrampur, Bilaspur, Janjgir - Champa, Jashpur, Kabeerdham, Korba, Koriya, Mungeli, Raigarh, Surajpur, Surguja, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Bhind, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Dindori, Guna, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla, Morena, Narsimhapur, Panna, Raisen, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Shahdol, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Umaria, and Vidisha districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours.
