The western parts of Uttar Pradesh, particularly Muzaffarnagar and Bulandshahr have been receiving on and off rains and thundershower activities since the last many days. On the contrary, dry weather is continuing over the eastern parts of the state.
According to Skymet Weather, the major reason for ongoing activities over Uttar Pradesh can be attributed to different weather systems that are prevailing all over India. At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is present over the northern parts of Rajasthan. Moreover, successive Western Disturbances are approaching the hills of North India. Along with these weather systems, moist humid winds are also playing a major role in making the conditions favourable for rains over the state.
Talking about the state of Bihar, its eastern parts like Araria, Supaul, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, Purnea and Katihar, which are in the foothills are experiencing on and off rains and thundershower activities since the last two to three days. Eastwards movement of the Western Disturbance is bringing rain to the region. Also, the remnants of former WD are feeding moisture. IN addition, a Cyclonic Circulation is present over the eastern parts of Assam. Humid winds from the Bay of Bengal are also feeding moisture to the region, leading to rains.
As the systems are likely to stay for a longer period of time, we expect rain and thundershower activities to continue for next 24 to 48 hours over eastern parts of Bihar and western parts of Uttar Pradesh. However, after 48 hours, the successive Western Disturbances will lose their strength and move only in upper latitudes due to which the weather will gradually start clearing up from both the states.
Once the weather becomes dry, day temperatures will once again shoot up and may even cross the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
