Monsoon is the last to arrive in the state of Rajasthan and evacuate the region first. Which is why the state seldom does not enjoy much of Monsoon rains as they usually remain for less than two Monsoon months.
Rajasthan can be categorized into two divisions, East and West and lout of the two, West Rajasthan is the leanest rainiest pocket. On the other hand, Monsoon rains over East Rajasthan are satisfactory.
The state experienced a satisfactory June, ending at a surplus of over 60% for both East and West Rajasthan. In fact, barring the first few days of July, the ongoing month also went well for the state.

The rainy trend for East Rajasthan recording more showers than West Rajasthan repeated on the last day as well. Within the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Jaipur 85 mm, Sikar 59 mm, Pilani 41 mm, Chittorgarh 37 mm, Bhilwara 14 mm, Bundi 5 mm, Kota 3 mm, Churu 2 mm, Ajmer 2 mm, and Udaipur recorded 0.1 mm of rains.
The reason for these rains can be associated with the traveling of the weather system from the Bay of Bengal in a westerly direction towards Rajasthan via Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
However, the systems are active until they reach East Rajasthan, but they start weakening by the time they reach the western half of the state. Moreover, the weather system that develops in the Arabian Sea and adjoining region such as the cyclonic circulation persisting over South Gujarat also affects the weather of Gujarat and South Rajasthan more in comparison with the regions of West Rajasthan.
Despite, the low amount of rainfall, both the regions are rainfall surplus. At present, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 24%. Meanwhile, East Rajasthan is in excess of rains by 33%.
As of now, we expect the eastern half of the state to continue to receive moderate showers for the next 48 hours. On the other hand, the western half of the state may remain almost dry.
