Rain in Uttar Pradesh

It’s been multiple days since the state of Uttar Pradesh is seeing on and off rains. And the rains have become more intense since the monsoon trough has shifted and is running along the state. Skymet had earlier predicted moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over the state until September 3.

During the last 48 hours the state has received moderate to heavy rains at many places such as Jhansi, Aligarh, Banda, Meerut, Lucknow, Allahabad and Hardoi. Moreover in just last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday the state capital city Lucknow recorded 39mm rain, Jhansi 89mm, Meerut 39mm, Sultanpur 8mm, while Allahabad recorded 76mm rain. Continued rainfall has led to many parts showing a dip in the maximum temperature.

Presently, the cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh has moved towards the west and is presently seen over central parts of the state. The cyclonic circulation is extending up to tropospheric level. The axis of Monsoon trough is passing through central parts of the state thus we expect the rainfall activity to continue over most parts.

Due to these conditions moderate rainfall with few heavy spells are likely. Flash floods are possible over some parts of the state.
