More than 50 mm rain in Harnai, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Thane and Solapur in just 24 hrs

As predicted by Skymet Weather, rains have revived over the state of Maharashtra. During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rains were recorded over Vidarbha while Marathwada experienced a few good spells of rain during the same span. Meanwhile, rains continued to be heavy over parts of Konkan and Goa.

Places like Nashik, Malegaon, Pune, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur and Mahabaleshwar in Madhya Maharashtra witnessed good rainfall activities within the same time span.

According to the 24-hour data available with Skymet from 8:30 am on Wednesday , Harnai has received 91 mm of rainfall, followed by Santa Cruz (Mumbai) 69 mm, Solapur 59 mm, Ratnagiri 58 mm, Thane 55 mm, Matheran 38 mm, Beed 30 mm and Pune 26 mm. Meanwhile, Aurangabad observed only 3 mm of rains.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over North Madhya Maharashtra. This system would move in the westerly direction and give more moderate rains over North Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa for another 24 to 48 hours. Isolated heavy spells are also likely.

Places like Jalgaon, Malegaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, would observe moderate showers, while Thane, Dahanu, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Mahabaleshwar stand a chance to see moderate rains with one or two heavy spells for another two days.

The meteorological divisions of Vidarbha and Marathwada during the same period would observe scattered rains. However, the intensity will start reducing after 24 hours.

By September 22, there would be a significant drop in the rainfall activities of the entire state and thereafter only scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells would continue over parts of Konkan and Goa. The weather of Vidarbha and Marathwada would become almost dry with isolated light rain.
