Mumbai rains have been a disappointing affair since mid-July. Until then, the city was displaying a stupendous performance in terms of rains with both the months seeing above normal rains.

However, after mid-July, rains took a massive dip and as far as the month of August is concerned, it was on a massive low. In fact, the city of dreams recorded a mere 233.6 mm of rains against its normal average of 585.2 mm.

The last 24 hours were almost dry for the city of Mumbai with Santa Cruz observing no rains while Colaba saw very light rains

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, light to moderate rains are expected over the city of Mumbai in view of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Goa Coast at upper tropospheric levels.

The suburbs of Mumbai are also expected to see some light to moderate rains during the next 24 to 36 hours, Thereafter, rains will gradually decrease over the city. In fact, rainfall activity will remain on the backseat only.

The month of September usually sees 341.4 mm of rains after which rainfall activity reduces to quite an extent and October records rains to the tune of 89 mm only. It will be interesting to see whether Mumbai is able to see good rains in September or the month will follow the footsteps of August itself.
