Mumbai Rains

The city of Mumbai has been receiving some amount of rains in the past two to three days. Rains have been heavy on occasions and light on the other. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz saw light rains of 6 mm while Colaba recorded 1 mm of rainfall.

Now also, Mumbai is likely to continue receiving some rainfall activity in the next 24 hours, i.e. today and tomorrow. Thereafter, intensity will go down as the southwesterly winds in the wake of Cyclone Vayu will fade away.

Thus, rains will reduce after tomorrow being on the lighter side. However, another spell of Mumbai rains is likely to occur over coastal parts of Maharashtra, i.e. between June 23 and 26. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are also likely during that time. Thus, residents should remain cautious in terms of Mumbai rains during that particular period.

Interior Maharashtra may also see the revival of rainfall activity around June 21 and 22.

Southwest Monsoon which usually makes an onset over the city of Mumbai around June 10, has been delayed for more than a week now. Southwest Monsoon 2019 will make an onset soon over the city of Mumbai giving residents the flavor of the typical Mumbai rains.
