Nagpur, Akola, Gondia, Chandrapur to see light to moderate rains

Rain in Maharashtra increases, Monsoon inches closer

Active Monsoon conditions were seen over several parts of Konkan & Goa region, since last many days. Meanwhile, subdued Monsoon conditions were seen prevailing over Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada, However, isolated light showers continued to occur over these regions.

In a turn if events, rains over Vidarbha have picked up a pace now. Although, the residents of Marathwada still wait for good Monsoon showers.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Dahanu recorded 11 mm of rainfall, Mahabaleshwar 9.6 mm, Bhira 8 mm, Ratnagiri 7.2 mm, Udgir 5.6 mm, Thane 5 mm, Mumbai 3.8 mm, Nashik 2.6 mm, Vengurla 2 mm and  Parbhani 1.6 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a trough which is seen extending along the East Coast. Also, this trough is likely to shift towards East, due to which, light to moderate rains is expected to occur over Vidarbha region. Moreover, isolated light showers are expected to continue over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada regions.

Hence, cities such as Nagpur, Amaravati, Akola, Gondia, Buldana, Bhandara and Chandrapur will see light showers for the next 24 hours. In a meantime, cities such as Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Pune, and Nashik will settle with isolated light showers.

After 24 hours, the intensity of these rainfall activities is expected to increase significantly over Vidarbha region. However, isolated light rains over Konkan & Goa including Mumbai, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada is expected to continue.
