Fog in Northwest Plains

During the last couple of days, dense fog with sky obscured conditions are prevailing over the northwest parts of the country. This dense fog layer has settled in wake of active Western Disturbance on December 14 and 15 which has provided moist conditions in wake of this system.

In the wake of the above system, the moist conditions have now cooled down with the help of cool northerly air mass. This layer is strong which is not allowing sun rays to penetrate over ground levels and continuation of cold winds is being experienced despite feeble Western Disturbances.

Hence, similar foggy conditions will continue over the entire northwest Plains during the next three to four days. Though, the sun may be visible for a short period during the afternoon hours.

Presently, the feeble Western Disturbance is moving across the northern parts of Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. In association with this system, an upper air trough is also extending from North Kerala to West Madhya Pradesh. Hence, conditions are favorable for the occurrence of light rain at isolated places of northeast Rajasthan, Southwest Haryana, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh during the next 12-18 hours. Thereafter, the weather will be dry over the northwestern plains of our country.

The day temperature would continue to remain between 15-18 degrees while the night temperature will further recede after 24 hours.

Dausa, Alwar, Faridabad, Jhajjar, South Delhi, Palwal, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Moradabad may witness light rain and thundershowers during the next 12-18 hours.
