Since the last two days, the entire Northeast India has been receiving extremely heavy rainfall. So much so that on October 12, the entire East and Northeast India received 172% surplus rains. The interesting point is that till October 10 only scattered light rainfall occurred over the region.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, that rain intensity will increase from October 11 onwards. Arunachal Pradesh which was rainfall deficient by 45% on October 10 is now rainfall deficient by only 1%. Assam and Meghalaya has reduced to 3% below the normal rainfall from 35% rainfall deficient.
Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura has received comparatively less rainfall therefore, its rainfall deficient has come down to 38% from 43%.
As of now a cyclonic circulation is seen over Meghalaya and adjoining areas which will continue to give good rainfall over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura for another 24 hours. Thereafter this weather system will fizzle out and rain intensity over entire Northeast states will reduce significantly.
So, once again dry weather conditions will be witnessed over the region. After October 14, only isolated rain activity is expected over Northeast states.
