In the same span of time, Palayankottai recorded 2 mm rain, Karaikal, and Kodaikanal 1 mm rain. At present, a cyclonic circulation is over North Kerala and a trough is extending from the southeast Bay of Bengal to Comorian region.

Moderate winds from northeast direction are also blowing over the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. Due to the combined effect of these weather features, we expect rains to cover some more parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai.

It is anticipated that light to moderate intensity rains is possible over many districts of Coastal and Interior Tamil Nadu until December 22. Though, the intensity of rains will not be very heavy. These rains have ended the dry spell and Northeast Monsoon has revitalized. In wake of these showers, the weather will remain comfortable for the next three to four days.

However, this weather system it is expected to recurve towards west central Bay of Bengal and may not affect Tamil Nadu. The maximum temperatures will remain in lower 30’s in most parts of Tamil Nadu and the minimum temperatures will settle in lower 20’s.
