Patna, Gaya, Lucknow, Varanasi brace for more Monsoon rains

The month of September has not remained very fruitful for the eastern states of the country, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Though as compared to the first, the latter has recorded comparatively more rains in September.

Talking about both the states individually, the districts of East Uttar Pradesh and East Bihar have remained rainier in contrast with the rest of the states. In the last 24 hours also, the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have recorded more rains as compared with West and North Uttar Pradesh and North Bihar. But overall, the intensity of these rains was mainly light in nature.

Within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Orai recorded 12 mm of rains, Bhagalpur 11 mm, Varanasi and Purnia both witnessed 3 mm of rains each, Lucknow 2 mm, and Patna witnessed 0.2 mm of rains.

As of now, rains over parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are expected to pace up by September 19. Most parts of East and Central Uttar Pradesh such as in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Balia, Varanasi, and Kanpur can expect an increase in the rainfall activities. By September 20, districts of West Uttar Pradesh such as Moradabad, and Bareilly will also receive some good showers.

These good rains are likely to continue until 24 over West Uttar Pradesh while East and Central Uttar Pradesh will continue to receive light to moderate showers until September 25. Thereafter, rains over East Uttar Pradesh will witness a drop.

A few parts of Bihar such as Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Purnia can also expect an increase in rains within the next 24 hours. But these spells will be of a shorter duration, will not be continuous in nature and may occur mainly during early morning or afternoon hours. Thereafter, by September 22, many parts of Bihar can expect good rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains are due to the influence of the cyclonic circulation which is seen over Odisha coast and is likely to move towards Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh.
