After lashing the northern hills of the country, rains have finally reduced gradually. So much so that Dharamsala which had witnessed three digit rain on August 6 and 8, have reduced into moderate intensity showers on August 13.

Though after witnessing a gap of two days, Dharamsala once again recorded some good showers in the last 24 hours. While Shimla, Manali, and Dehradun have remained dry from the last 48 hours. The weather in parts of Jammu & Kashmir is also dry from the last three to four days.

Within a span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Thursday, Dharamsala recorded 50 mm of rains, Dehradun 9 mm, Nainital 8 mm, Pantnagar 4 mm, and Mukteshwar witnessed 3 mm of rains.

The reason for these light spells that have been occurring in the hill states of North India can be attributed to the feeble Western Disturbance which is over North Jammu & Kashmir. As the weather system is feeble in nature, it will not have much impact on the spectacular hill stations across North India.

In fact, most parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will have to reel under the dry weather, a few parts of Uttarakhand may witness light to moderate intensity rains for at least another 24 hours.

Thereafter, the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to move in the south direction towards the plains of North India. On account of this shift, dry weather will continue over all the three hilly states of North India for another 24 hours after which, parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will start receiving light rains once again. Though heavy showers are ruled out and so are the possibilities of incidents of landslide and cloud bursts in these regions.

Thus, as the scenic mountains of North India will be witnessing pleasant weather conditions for the next 4-5 days, the hills are all set to welcome tourists with wide arms open.
