Weather conditions in Pune remained hot and humid even after a few days of the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon. So much so that rainfall activity remained subdued over Pune during the last few days of the month of June.
However, light rain begun over Pune on the first day of July itself. Thereafter, light to moderate rains continued over the city with July 3 and 4 recording 116 mm of rainfall. Maximum temperature also continued to be close to 27 degrees.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Pune observatory recorded 16 mm of rainfall. Rainfall was widespread in nature with Pashan area in Pune receiving a good 21 mm of rainfall during the same time span.
So far, Pune has received 153.8 mm of rainfall against the monthly average of 187.2 mm of rain. With three weeks to go, Pune will easily be able to reach its monthly rains well before the end of July.
Now, weather conditions have become all the more pleasant with maximum temperature dropping to 25 degrees, which happens to be four degrees below the normal levels. Minimums continue to be close to 22 degrees. The diurnal variation (difference between maximum and minimum temperature) is less which is why the day will continue to remain pleasant.
Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, scattered light rain is expected to continue over Pune which is why weather will remain pleasant over the city keeping humid conditions at bay.
