Possible cyclone to give heavy rain over Andhra PradeshThe depression which was brewing in the Bay of Bengal has undergone under further intensification and has now become a deep depression. The system currently lies about 120 km south-southeast of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

The system will continue to move in a northeast direction along the Andhra coast. Thereafter, the system will start moving northwards along the East Coast before re-curving to the northeast direction away from the Indian coast.

Gradually, the weather system is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 24 to 36 hours. On its way, the possible cyclonic storm is expected to give heavy rain over Andhra Pradesh. Isolated pockets may receive very heavy rain as well. Nellore is already receiving good showers.

As per Skymet Weather, good rains will continue over the city for at least 24 hours. During this period, south coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh including Chittoor and Prakasam are likely to observe heavy showers. Thereafter, as the weather system travels northwards, rain will reduce over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

However, northern parts of the state including Krishna, Godavari, and Visakhapatnam will receive good rains. As the system will continue to travel into the sea, it will not cross the Andhra Pradesh coast. However, high velocity winds gusting up to 50-70 kmph will prevail over the region but no threat to life or property is expected.
