Kolkata Rains 1

With the summers looking to seep its paw deep in India, most parts of the country are reeling with high levels of mercury and dry weather conditions. But that is not the case with most parts of West Bengal.

According to the meteorologists at Skymet Weather, around Gangetic West Bengal and neighboring Jharkhand, a cyclonic circulation is seen in the lower level. A trough can also be spotted moving across the circulation from Arunachal Pradesh to South Odisha coast. Due to the instability in the air, thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening hours.

This weather system may produce rain with squally winds as well. Such weather is likely to continue for next 48 hours over the region. Kolkata is also likely to witness rainy spells. The morning temperatures will be pleasant whereas the day will be humid and uneasy.

For the sub-Himalayan West Bengal region, cloudy sky with rain and thundershowers are expected due to the trough. This trough is persisting close to West Assam originating from Arunachal Pradesh and going up to South Odisha. A cyclonic circulation can be seen over West Assam. Due to the combined effect of all these systems, rain can be witnessed over the sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

This sporadic spell of rain is likely to continue over the region for another 24 hours.
