Pune Much Hotter Than Nashik, Showers Likely Next Two Days

March 10, 2022 6:22 PM |

Pune and Nashik, located on the lee side of Western Ghats enjoy nearly identical meteorological conditions. Month of March announces heat for the twin cities and mercury sometimes climb to touch 40°C during later half of the month. Mean monthly normal for these cities hang around 36°C in March. Both the cities are staring at blistering hot days ahead in the season, particularly the sweltering days in April. Month of May, though equally hot, increase in thunderstorm activity drain the oppressive heat, at least on few days.

Precariously, the neighboring cities of Madhya Maharashtra are experiencing diverse meteorological conditions for the last 3 days. Nashik claimed hat trick of showers on 07th, 08th and 09thMarch  registering rainfall of 0.2mm, 11mm and 1.0mm respectively.  Day maximum temperature dropped to 28°C yesterday, about 6°C below the normal.  Pune has not witnessed any rainy day this year so far, albeit light sprinkle in some parts on 08thJan 2022. Meteorological conditions may twist  to become favorable to break the jinx of drought.

Feeble trough is marked extending from Kerala to North Madhya Maharashtra, embedded with light circulation. Few parts of this region have experienced light rain over the last 2 days.  This feature is likely to persist for another 48hr. Local heat may also act as trigger.

Clouds are likely to hover over parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Spell of light rain and drizzle  is quite likely over these parts. Nashik and Pune both, can expect fleeting  showers during later part of the evening and night. Cloud cover and rain may provide some transient relief, but heat is going to build up again on the weekend and later.
