Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Satara to get more Monsoon rains

Rain in Maharashtra increases, Monsoon inches closer

At present, Monsoon have become active over the coastal areas of Maharashtra. And as a result, Mumbai, Pune, Alibag, Ratnagiri, and Vengurla have been receiving good Monsoon showers during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, rest of the areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada have recorded light rains.

In span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Vengurla recorded 27 mm of rainfall followed by Mumbai 22.8 mm, Thane 17 mm, and Alibag and Dahanu 16.7 mm, Gondia 15.1 mm, Bhira 15 mm, Mahableswar 12.3 mm, Wardha 11.8 mm, Yeotmal 6.6 mm, Chandrapur 5 mm, Kolhapur 3.5 mm, Ratnagiri 2.2 mm, Aurangabad 1.2 mm, Nasik 1 mm, Pune 0.7 mm, Akola 0.6 mm and Satara 0.5 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, the off-shore trough is seen running along the West Coast from Konkan & Goa to Kerala. With this, good rains are expected to continue over Mumbai and adjoining areas. In fact, with the likely formation of cyclonic circulation over South Goa and adjoining North Arabian Sea in next 48 hours, the rain intensity is likely to increase further over coastal areas. Few heavy spells are also anticipated during this time.

Until now, only Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra have been rain surplus regions by 58% and 21%, respectively. While Konkan & Goa is rain deficient by 6%. However, Mumbai may witness heavy to very heavy rain and thundershower activities after June 26-27. Also, rest of coastal areas will also pick up pace and thus, this deficit figure may improve.

Mumbai, Akola, Sangli, Nagpur, Alibag, Mahableswar, Pune, Jalgaon, Satara, Malegaon, and Nashik may continue to receive light to moderate Monsoon showers during the next 24 to 48 hours.  Thereafter, rains are likely to reduce.

Monsoon has covered entire parts of Maharashtra but now Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra is expected to reel under warm and humid weather conditions after two to three days.
