Sultry weather to go hot in Mumbai after March 25 1

The scorching summer heat has intensified in most parts of the country. Most parts of the northwest plains are gripped under heatwave to severe heatwave conditions thereby making it almost impossible for people to face the sun.

The intensity of heatwave can be made out of the fact that even the hilly terrains of North India are also reeling under rising mercury levels. The hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are already recording above normal temperatures. A Severe heatwave has even engulfed Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The day temperature at most parts of these regions is already mounting 5-7°C above their normal.

Similar is the case with most states of northwest plains as well. Parts of Punjab and West Rajasthan are witnessing severe heatwave condition. While, the heatwave has continued to grip most parts of Rajasthan including parts of Haryana, Delhi, Southwest Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and a few districts of Gujarat.

As per Skymet Weather, due to the commencement of Westerly and Southwesterly winds that are blowing from the Arabian Sea, temperatures have declined in most parts of Gujarat thereby abating the heatwave conditions. But, still, a few regions are recording temperature above the scorching 40-degree mark.

However, for other regions, the hot southwesterly winds from the Sindh province of Pakistan and West Rajasthan will continue over the northwest plains. Hence, no respite from the prevailing heatwave conditions is expected in the region for another 4 -5 days.
