Most parts of Northeast India have been receiving light to moderate showers with one or two heavy spells since the last three to four days. We expect this trend to continue for the next 24 hours, with the possibility of good rains, particularly over Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, upper reaches of Arunachal Pradesh may get snow over few places.
Several other districts like Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong East, Karbi Anglong West, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, N.C.Hills, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia, Udalguri, East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, North Garo hills, Ribhoi, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills would witness rain and thundershowers with strong winds for the next 24 hours.
According to Skymet Weather, these rains are a result of a Cyclonic Circulation over East Assam and its adjoining areas. Moreover, a trough has been extending from Bihar up to northeastern states. In addition to these systems, humid winds from Bay of Bengal have been infusing moisture over the states.
Meanwhile, in wake of rains and increased cloud cover, the maximum temperatures have dropped, whereas minimums have started to increase over these states.
However, we expect, the ongoing weather conditions over Northeast India to undergo a change after 24 hours. As a result, rain intensity will significantly decrease over the states and gradually weather will start clearing up. Thus, we expect weather to remain completely dry between March 1 and 4. Thereafter, March 5 onward, another spell of rain and thundershower will affect the northeastern states that will continue until March 7.
