The temperatures may have been settling above normal but rain in Bengaluru is covering up excellently. The steady rain that took Bengaluru by surprise made January the rainiest for the second time. With 4.4 mm of rainfall in just 24 hours, the city has exceeded its normal rainfall for the month by a whopping 144 percent.

Bengaluru receives the lowest rainfall in January, i.e., 1.8 mm. However, due to the presence of confluence zone, the city has been receiving fairly good amount of rain in last three days. Just last year, January in Bengaluru received the highest rainfall of 7.6 mm in a span of 24 hours.

Temperatures in Bengaluru

Presently, maximum temperature in Bengaluru is settling one degree below than the normal. The minimum temperature that is settling 4 degrees above than the normal is expected to take a dip and come down to normal in next 24-48 hours.

Forecast for Bangalore

After 24 hours, the confluence zone will move towards north Karnataka and gradually disappear. Due to this, light rain is likely at several places of Bengaluru, after which the weather will go dry in the Silicon Valley.

People of Bengaluru can finally get over the monotony of dry weather that has been persisting for over a month now. The Garden City of India is receiving light rain and is expected to witnesses on and off showers till tomorrow.

Rainfall in Bengaluru during January is confined to mere 1.8 mm and the month usually goes dry. This year, the month was completely dry with only light rain in last two days.

December too went practically dry with only light scattered rain observed on few occasions. Out of 31 days, Bengaluru received rain on just 6 days.

However, the parched Bengaluru has been receiving light rain since past two days that has turned the weather blissful in Bengaluru.

These recent rains are a result of the confluence zone that has formed across southern Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Chhattisgarh. The merging of dry and cold northerly winds with warm and moist southerly winds from the Arabian Sea has developed this confluence zone. Due to the merging of these opposite winds, clouds have developed leading to scattered light rainfall over South and Coastal Karnataka.
