After a prolonged dry spell, in the last 24 hours, due to presence of an easterly trough running from Comorin region to Rayalaseema across interior parts of Tamil Nadu, isolated pockets of Tamil Nadu have experienced patchy rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Kodaikanal recorded 27.8 mm of rain, followed by Coonoor 3.5 mm, Madurai 0.5 mm, Valparai and Kanyakumari 2 mm.

In fact, due to fluctuation of moisture over Kannur and Ooty area, moderate fog occurred over these places and their adjoining regions.

Now as the above-mentioned weather systems would be moving westwards, rains are likely to decrease over the area after 12 to 18 hours. Meanwhile, during the next 12 to 18 hours, light spell of rain and thundershower activities will occur.

Places such as Nagapattinam, Rameswaram, Coonoor, Ooty and Kodaikanal may experience spell of light rain and thundershowers.

Chennai city will be warm and humid during the day with cloudy sky. In fact, very light rain is possible in the close vicinity of the capital city. Thereafter, rains will decrease from the city and its adjoining areas.
