Rain in Kerala to bring relief from hot weather

May 8, 2016 5:54 PM |

Rain in Kerala to bring relief from hot weatherKerala remained hot during the month of April. May began on a rainy note for the coastal state with a few parts receiving light rains. However, with weather once again going dry over several parts of the state, temperatures have witnessed an increase over almost the entire state.

So much so that maximums in Kozhikode have been recording at 38.4 degrees, which is five degrees above the normal levels. Other areas witnessing above normal maximums include, Kannur where the maximum is settling at 38 degree Celsius, Punalur 36.7 degree Celsius, and Kottayam 36.7 degrees.

Now, conditions are all set to improve as Pre-Monsoon showers are likely to make that much needed appearance over Kerala. During the next 24 to 48 hours, many areas in Kerala will observe light to moderate Pre-Monsoon rains.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the wind discontinuity in the Interior Peninsular India which is a semi-permanent feature during the Pre-Monsoon season. These rains in the state will bring some relief from the ongoing hot weather conditions.
